Fundraiser started for family of injured Saraland police officer

Dec 28, 2016

Friends of Saraland police officer Jackie Tucker, who was shot in the head by a suspect on December 21 while responding to a domestic violence call, have set up a GoFundMe page for her family.

Currently, officer Tucker remains in critical condition at this time at the University of South Alabama Medical Center.

When Tucker and her partner responded to the call the suspect, Matthew Blake Richardson, opened fire on the officers as they arrived at the scene with one shot striking Tucker in the head. Tucker was airlifted to the USA Medical Center and Richardson was also injured during the gunfire exchange and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Friends describe Tucker as a dedicated wife and mother. Aside from working as a law enforcement officer for the Saraland PD, she is also a director at a local daycare.

Tucker's road to recovery will require extensive rehabilitation  and friends are asking the community to help Tucker's family as she recovers. The page has a goal of $5,000 and 100% of all donations will go to the Tucker family.
