Rep. Ken Rizer to Introduce Law to Protect Police

Nov 05, 2016

Iowa State Rep. Ken Rizer, a retired combat veteran Air Force fighter pilot, decided this past summer to introduce legislation enhancing penalties for crimes that targeted law enforcement. At the time it didn't occur to him  that ambush murders of police officers in his home state would happen before the year was out. Now, however, two police officers in suburban Des Moines have been assassinated in their patrol cars.

Rizer believes his proposed law to designate acts of violence against police officers as hate crimes, is now even more deserving of support when the Iowa legislature reconvenes in January.
