Officer Holloway, 46, was a 22-year NOPD veteran assigned to the NOPD's 5th District. Police said he was transporting Boys to the former Orleans Parish Prison nearly two years ago to be booked in connection with an incident earlier that morning, in which Boys' wife reported that he fired a gun at her.
Police say Boys, now 35, somehow found or smuggled a pistol into the back of Holloway's police vehicle, maneuvered his cuffed hands in front of him, and shot the officer in his right side by aiming through an access window separating the driver from the back seat.
Cop killers must face the death penalty for the death penalty to have deterrence. The killing of a cop is not only a crime against the police officer. It is an attack on the rule of law, civilization, and the United States itself.
District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro's failure to seek the death penalty for accused cop-killer Travis Boys makes his jurisdiction less safe, makes police everywhere less safe, and makes the United States less safe.
Petition results will be delivered to District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro.
